$3.2 Billion Investment to Launch 91 Projects in Surxondaryo Revealed

It was announced that 91 projects worth $3.2 billion will be launched in Surkhandarya
In the Surkhandarya region, $3.2 billion has been allocated for the implementation of 91 projects. Information about these projects was presented to Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a meeting on regional development.

Of the allocated funds, $2.2 billion is planned to be utilized by 2026. Additionally, 175 billion soums will be directed toward infrastructure development.

With these funds, 36 projects worth a total of 1.2 trillion soums will be carried out in the region. During the meeting, it was emphasized that despite Surkhandarya's abundant natural resources and advanced infrastructure, the region lags behind other regions in industry, agriculture, and services.

The volume of industrial production in the region is 1.5 times less than in Syrdarya, 1.8 times less than in Jizzakh, and two times less than in Khorezm. The volume of fruit and vegetable exports is also significantly lower compared to Samarkand, Tashkent, Fergana, and Khorezm regions.

Moreover, there are only 47 hotels operating in the region, and none of them are four- or five-star or branded hotels. The government plans to actively develop regions with high tourism potential, such as Boysun, Sangardak, and Omonkhona.

The goal is to increase the number of hotels in these areas and launch new tourism routes. Additionally, 60 percent of the fruits and vegetables cultivated in the region come from Denau, Sherobod, Qumqo‘rg‘on, Jarkurgan, Muzrabot, and Sariosiyo districts.

Plans are underway to boost agricultural product supply by launching new projects in Angor, Qiziriq, Termez, and other districts.
