Uzbekistan will continue exporting electricity to Afghanistan next year. The corresponding agreement was signed on November 17 in Tashkent.
In addition, Uzbek and Afghan representatives discussed accelerating the construction and establishment of power transmission lines and substations in Afghanistan. During the first nine months of this year, Uzbekistan exported electricity worth a total of $114.8 million.
Compared to the previous year, this marks an increase of 55.1 percent. It should be noted that at the beginning of September this year, Tashkent and Kabul reached an agreement on investing in Afghanistan's energy sector.
As part of this project, Uzbekistan plans to allocate $250 million for the construction of power transmission lines and related infrastructure. The project is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2027.
