A high-profile murder has taken place in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. According to local media, a former internal affairs officer is suspected of killing his spouse by shooting her.
The incident occurred on the evening of December 23 in a multi-story residential building located at the intersection of Bokonbaev and Ibraimov streets. According to preliminary information, a conflict broke out between the spouses, during which the man fired six shots at the woman. She died at the scene from her injuries.
It is reported that the couple had officially divorced on the same day. The tragedy is further compounded by the fact that the incident occurred on the woman’s birthday — she was turning 47. The family has two children.
The suspect was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. Investigators determined that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime. It is also reported that the victim had previously filed complaints with the police regarding domestic violence.
