Eggs are an inexpensive source of all the nutrients. But only a quality product is useful: experts explained how to choose it.
Before putting eggs in the basket, many people look inside the packaging. Unfortunately, it is impossible to determine the freshness of the product by its appearance. Thus, you can protect yourself from buying broken or very dirty eggs. This is also important: experts from the "Championate" publication recommend buying eggs only with a clean and intact shell.
Also pay attention to the expiration date of eggs in the store. The closer the production date is to the date of purchase, the better.
Some stores are equipped with ovoscopes, special devices for examining eggs. They help to identify defective products. It is enough to place the egg in a special hole and look at the light. When holding it by the shell, there should be no bright lines or dots (these are signs of cracks and holes), the air chamber is located at the blunt end of the egg in the form of a stationary round dot.
You can check the purchased eggs at home using cold water. Good ones will sink to the bottom of the bowl, while expired ones will float on the surface of the water.
The characteristics of the egg's composition also say a lot. So, a good egg will have a convex yolk, and the white will be dense and transparent, without blood inclusions. The liquid part should also not emit a suspicious unpleasant odor.
