James Rogers, a UECCA (United States Sports Coaching Association) certified running coach, answered the question of whether walking 10,000 steps a day is enough to lose weight.
“Constant movement is more important than intense, but not repeated exercises every day. The benefits of long-distance walking and running only begin to be felt when they are continued consistently.
Some people, if they do intense and certain interval training to get rid of excess weight, quickly get bored and quit sports because they do not see results. Long-distance walking is easier than heavy exercises and is easier to maintain. This factor is the easiest and most convenient way to lose weight and stay healthy,” the trainer said.
According to research by Jama International Medicine, walking 10,000 or more steps a day reduces the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease.
The American journal Nature published the latest results of a study involving 6,042 people aged 41 to 67. The experiment lasted an average of 4 years (from 2.2 to 5.6 years). The physical activity of all participants was monitored using fitness trackers.
The results showed that there is a connection between diabetes, hypertension, depression, sleep apnea and gastroesophageal reflux disease and the number of steps taken.
“I think that walking 10,000 steps a day may not be the same for everyone. "You can find a regimen that works for you by balancing your physical activity with other, more strenuous exercises and by trying different types of exercises. When combined with a healthy diet, you can achieve significant weight loss results," concludes James Rogers. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
