A new, innovative system is planned to be implemented at pedestrian crossings in Tashkent this year. To ensure the safety of roads and protect the rights of pedestrians, special robots equipped with cameras will be installed at crosswalks. This technology aims to further modernize the city’s infrastructure and improve discipline in road traffic.
These robots will monitor each pedestrian crossing. If drivers fail to yield to pedestrians, the robots will detect this, record the vehicle’s license plate with the camera, and an automatic fine notification will be sent to the car owner. This innovative approach is intended not only to encourage driver discipline but also to increase the overall safety of the city.
Officials highlight that the robots will provide constant surveillance, minimizing the human factor and significantly reducing violations at pedestrian crossings. The scientific and technological approach will change attitudes toward pedestrians, while drivers will adapt to following the rules more strictly. By the end of 2025, this system is planned to be piloted at all major intersections.
It is important to note that this initiative is being implemented for the first time in Tashkent and is attracting considerable public attention. Experts believe the robots will raise responsibility among all participants in road traffic. In the future, this technology is expected to be introduced in other cities as well.
