It turns out that walking 10,000 steps a day is not strictly necessary! A new scientific study has shown that walking 7000 steps a day is also enough to improve health and reduce the risk of disease.
An international team of scientists led by Professor Melody Ding of the University of Sydney in Australia analyzed hundreds of scientific studies and came to this conclusion. According to their calculations, walking 7000 steps daily reduces the risk of premature death by up to 47 percent and the likelihood of developing dementia (mental decline) by up to 38 percent.
Interestingly, walking up to 10,000 steps only slightly improves these indicators. This sets a more convenient and achievable standard for most people.
It is also noted that even less movement has a positive effect on human health. For example, people who walk 2000–4000 steps a day also show significantly reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and depression.
Experts emphasize: it's not about reaching a specific number, but about continuing to move regularly. Any movement is a step toward a healthy life. The most important thing is to get up and make physical activity part of your daily routine!
