An attempt to illegally smuggle a large quantity of gold abroad was thwarted at Tashkent International Airport. The operation was conducted jointly by the State Security Service and the 'Tashkent-Aero' specialized customs complex.
It is reported that the luggage of a citizen born in 1980 in the Andijan region, who intended to fly on the 'Tashkent – Dubai' route, was inspected. The individual currently resides in Tashkent.
During the inspection, it was discovered that 1 kg 923 grams of gold bars were hidden in the inner lining of their suitcase. The precious metal was seized as material evidence.
It was also noted that a previously convicted citizen born in 1992 in the Tashkent region may be involved in this case. Pre-investigation checks are currently being carried out.
