Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Comments on Reports About Chinese Nationals in Uzbekistan
Recently, various reports have been circulating on social media about the increasing number of Chinese nationals in Uzbekistan. Some sources even claim that Uzbek lands are allegedly being transferred to China. Those spreading such information accuse the Uzbek government of inaction and inability to control the situation.

In response to these allegations, Platina.uz reached out to Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Bekzod Khidoyatov for an official statement from the government.

What Did the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Say?

"We are currently witnessing a global shift in investments. Thanks to the efforts of our president, Uzbekistan’s economy is developing, and we are pursuing an open and pragmatic policy. Many investors are coming to the country, which is a normal process for a developing state.

Moreover, not only Chinese nationals but also investors and entrepreneurs from Germany, France, Turkey, India, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and other countries are coming to Uzbekistan and conducting business.

Just as Uzbek entrepreneurs and migrants work abroad, including in China, foreigners are also coming here. Today, in various countries, you can find Uzbek communities, shops with Uzbek names, and national restaurants.

Regarding China, it is the most populous country in the world, and large Chinese diasporas exist even in Western Europe and North America. However, no one there considers them a threat. Therefore, there is no reason for concern. This seems to be a manipulative campaign orchestrated by a third party in their own interests. We urge our fellow citizens not to fall for such provocations.

China is a historical and strategic partner of Uzbekistan. It respects our territorial sovereignty and integrity, and, moreover, a special agreement has been signed regarding this issue. So, there is no reason for panic.

Let me give another example: among the students studying in Uzbekistan, a large number are from India. Currently, if I am not mistaken, more than 6,000 Indian students are enrolled in our universities. But does this mean that Uzbekistan will be taken over by Indians? Of course not!

To reiterate, Uzbekistan is no longer a closed country. We urge people to be more patient and not to believe false or provocative information," – stated Bekzod Khidoyatov.
