A fire that broke out at an auto repair shop in the Asaka district of Andijan region has caused alarm among local residents. The incident occurred on the evening of July 28, 2025, on Yangiobod Street in the Nematobod neighborhood. According to official reports, the fire was caused by the negligence of one of the workers, resulting in one fatality and one person hospitalized with serious injuries.
The Andijan regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that the first report of the fire was received at 18:21. The fire brigade arrived at the scene by 18:26 and fully extinguished the fire by 18:54. During this time, approximately 70 square meters of the building’s roof were destroyed.
The fire originated due to the violation of safety regulations by one of the auto service employees. That worker died at the scene. Another individual sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized. A "Labo" car at the scene was also completely destroyed by the fire.
The Prosecutor General’s Office issued an official statement regarding the incident. A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan — “Violation of fire safety regulations resulting in death.” Forensic medical, fire-technical, and other necessary examinations have been ordered. The person found guilty could face up to 5 years in prison.
Currently, investigative actions are ongoing. Authorities are once again urging the public to strictly observe fire safety rules, particularly in workplaces where special training and supervision are required.
