Najmiddin Qosimkhojayev became world taekwondo champion

Uzbek taekwondo athlete Najmiddin Qosimkhojaev (74 kg weight category) won the gold medal at the World Taekwondo (WT) Championships among adults held in Wuxi, China. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbekistan Taekwondo Association.

In the decisive match, Qosimkhojaev fought against Brazilian Edival Pontes. Pontes is a bronze medalist of previous world championships and the Olympic Games.

This is the first gold medal won by Najmiddin Qosimkhojaev at the world championship. The Uzbekistan national team concluded the Wuxi-2025 tournament with three medals: one gold, one silver, and one bronze.
