In Serie A’s 10th round, the Milan club "Inter" won 2-1 away against "Verona". The "Nerazzurri" were helped by an own goal from Martin Frese in the final minutes, as the match seemed headed for a draw.
Inter started the game actively and opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Piotr Zielinski sent Hakan Calhanoglu’s corner kick into the top corner with a single strike — 0:1.
However, Verona soon equalized. In the 40th minute, Giovanni Bradaric delivered an accurate shot from his teammate’s pass into the far corner — 1:1.
The hosts gained confidence and, near the end of the first half, almost took the lead through Gift Orban, but his shot hit the post. The teams went into halftime level.
In the second half, Inter coach Cristian Chivu reinforced the attack by bringing on players like Barella, Dumfries, and Esposito. The Milan club took complete initiative, but could not break through Verona’s defense for a long time.
In the final moments, the visitors increased the pressure and forced the opponent into a mistake. Barella’s cross from the left wing was turned into his own net by defender Martin Frese — 1:2.
In added time, Inter held the score and secured three crucial points. As a result, Inter’s points tally reached 21, temporarily moving them up to third place and narrowing the gap to the leaders.
Despite playing well, Verona suffered defeat and remained in the relegation zone. Cristian Chivu's men continue to strengthen their position in the race for the Scudetto with this victory.
