Vitinha was ready to hand the award to Safonov

PSG midfielder Vitinha said he was ready to give the Intercontinental Cup Best Player award to Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.

In a comment to A Bola, the Portuguese footballer noted that, if necessary, he would hand the trophy to Matvey. However, since Safonov was named Man of the Match, Vitinha kept the tournament’s Best Player award.

The match between PSG and Flamengo ended 1–1. In the penalty shootout, the Parisians were more accurate — 2–1. Safonov saved four penalties and became the hero of the game.
