However, by the summer of 2013, he left the club, and no one besides Perez was saddened by his departure.
During his time at the club, Mourinho had conflicted with many, from players to journalists. Nevertheless, Perez considered bringing him back in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2023.
Even now, he is seriously considering this option.
Perez is comparing the current situation to 2010. Real Madrid is once again on the verge of ending the season without a major trophy, and Barcelona is outperforming them.
However, Mourinho is no longer as successful as before. He has not won a league title in 11 years, and his last trophy was the Conference League in 2022.
Perez believes Mourinho is the charismatic coach Real Madrid needs. In his view, a strong character is necessary to manage Mbappe and other stars.
As Sergio Ramos once said: "At Real Madrid, managing the dressing room is more important than the coach's tactical knowledge."
However, Mourinho differs from Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane. He is much more aggressive, which was the reason for the early end of his first stint.
Although Perez called his departure in 2013 a mutual agreement, the situation was actually much more complicated.
Mourinho's successful style at Porto, Chelsea, and Inter did not work at Real Madrid. The atmosphere of mistrust he created eventually led to players turning against him.

Ramos also criticized Mourinho's style, noting that Ancelotti's arrival had a positive impact on the team. He stated that Mourinho had nothing to do with Real Madrid's subsequent successes.
