Uzbekistan and Hungary Approve Extradition Treaty

Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis have approved a draft law ratifying the agreement between Uzbekistan and Hungary on the extradition of criminals. This document was signed on May 20, 2025, in Budapest.

Until now, there was no extradition agreement between Uzbekistan and Hungary. The new agreement consists of 26 articles and establishes the terms under which individuals suspected or convicted of crimes can be transferred between the two countries.

Once the agreement comes into force, the law enforcement agencies of both countries will be able to strengthen their cooperation in conducting more effective investigations and prosecuting offenders. This will help prevent criminals from evading responsibility, deputies noted.

The draft law has been submitted to the Senate for consideration.
