According to a presidential decree, citizens of Uzbekistan will enjoy five consecutive days off in celebration of the New Year holiday. The decision designates the period from December 31 to January 4 as official holidays.
Specifically, December 31, which falls on a Wednesday, is declared an additional day off for all employees. January 1, a Thursday, will be celebrated in the traditional manner as New Year's Day. The festivities do not stop there: January 2, a Friday, is also declared an extra day off for everyone, regardless of whether their work week is five or six days long.
Moreover, January 3, a Saturday, is an additional day off for employees with six-day work weeks. January 4, a Sunday, remains a regular weekend holiday.
Importantly, December 31 and January 2 are designated as universal days off for all employees, irrespective of their work week's duration. This arrangement allows many to spend the New Year holidays peacefully, surrounded by family or taking the opportunity to travel.
The decision has sparked a positive reaction among the public. Many are viewing the extended break as an excellent opportunity to spend time with loved ones, travel, or simply recharge after a long year. This year's New Year holiday will not only be a celebration but also a genuine chance for relaxation.
