
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree establishing the Uzbek-American Business and Investment Council. This document was published on the official website of the head of state.
The responsibility for approving the council’s participants and organizing its operations has been assigned to Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration. The council's primary focus will be on coordinating major trade and investment projects.
Additionally, it is planned to establish an investment fund to attract additional financing for Uzbekistan's economy. The International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and other global financial institutions are expected to serve as key investors in this initiative.
The organization will be responsible for promoting strategic and infrastructure projects. Moreover, the council will review proposals on reducing reciprocal tariffs, promoting IT products and services developed by IT Park resident companies, and diversifying the country’s investment portfolio.
In particular, discussions will include effectively utilizing a portion of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan's foreign currency reserves. Starting next year, a new position of counselor-minister will be introduced at Uzbekistan’s embassy in the United States.
This new role will oversee the implementation of trade and investment projects within the territories of both countries. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
