In Uzbekistan, the system for protecting citizens who report corruption and guaranteeing their rights is being radically improved. At the meeting chaired by the President, proposals were presented on new mechanisms aimed at strengthening anti-corruption policy.
According to official data, 31 citizens reported corruption cases in 2024. Although the legislation establishes incentive monetary rewards, in the current procedure, only letters of gratitude are awarded to them. The survey results show that about 30 percent of the population is afraid to report such cases due to the lack of adequate safeguards. Therefore, in order to protect informants, it was proposed to introduce special warrants for them.
During the meeting, the need to create project offices to identify corruption risks in highly bureaucratic and not fully digitalized sectors was noted. The results of the activities of these structures are regularly communicated to the public.
At the same time, it was proposed to expand public participation in such processes as monitoring investment programs and monitoring construction processes on the ground. In order to stimulate the activity of citizens, it is planned to establish a special award badge "For Contribution to the Fight Against Corruption."
The issue of digitalization of tax administration was also discussed at the meeting. The President instructed to accelerate the transition to a fully automated VAT calculation system and drastically reduce errors caused by the human factor.
