Violence in Palestinian territories is rising sharply

While international attention remains focused on the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the occupied West Bank continues to deteriorate. Israeli authorities have officially closed the Rafah border crossing, further restricting the flow of essential aid and movement for civilians trapped in the enclave. Meanwhile, military operations and settler violence in the West Bank show no signs of abating. Reports Aljazeera.com.
Since the onset of hostilities on October 7, 2023, the death toll in Gaza has surpassed 72,000, with a significant majority of victims being women and children. The infrastructure of the enclave has been largely destroyed, leaving the population in a dire state. In the West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers during this period. Official Israeli figures indicate that at least 45 Israelis have also lost their lives in the region since the war began.
The ongoing instability highlights the persistent nature of the conflict, which continues to claim lives despite shifting global geopolitical priorities. As military operations persist, the international community faces mounting pressure to address the deepening humanitarian crisis and the cycle of violence affecting both Gaza and the West Bank.
