Uzbekistan's transport system to be fundamentally updated with new airports

Great strides are being made to boost our country's economy, fully realize the economic potential of the regions, and create the most favorable conditions for our citizens and entrepreneurs. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed major prospective projects that will take our country's transport and aviation infrastructure to a completely new level.

In the coming years, unprecedented changes will occur on our roads and in our peaceful skies. We have systematized the most essential, interesting, and strictly defined projects for you in one article.

New high-speed highway on the "Tashkent – Samarkand" route

Great news for those who love traveling from the capital to ancient Samarkand! The presentation featured a project for a new alternative highway with a length of 282 kilometers. This modern road will connect the Tashkent, Syrdarya, Jizzakh, and Samarkand regions.

The unique features of this road, which will be built to the highest standards, will not leave you indifferent:

  • Durability and width: The road will have a full cement-concrete pavement and consist of 3 lanes on each side, totaling 6 lanes.

  • High speed: The design speed is set at up to 150 kilometers per hour.

  • Grand structures: 12 transport interchanges, 60 tunnel-type crossings, 91 bridges, and 16 overpasses will be built along the highway.

  • Innovation: An intelligent management system, 12 terminals, and modern weighing stations will be installed along the entire road. The head of state has concluded negotiations with investors and given instructions to start construction as soon as possible.

Aviation revolution: The number of airports has reached 18!

A true ecosystem is being created in our country's civil aviation sector. Currently, 7 international airports in the regions are being renovated based on the most modern standards.

Happily, new local airports are being built in remote and tourist areas such as Muynak, Kokand, Zaamin, Shahrisabz, Sariosiyo, and Sokh, bringing the total number of air gates in our country to 18. reached.

Navoi International Airport — an independent commercial center

The airport in Navoi has been granted significant economic freedom. It can now independently conclude contracts with foreign airlines for transit and cargo transportation. By 2030, the number of flights here will be increased by 2.3 times. Most importantly, a "porto-franco" special free zone providing technical and commercial services to aircraft will be established in the airport area.

New Tashkent Airport: 20 million passengers per year

The project for the magnificent "New Tashkent" international airport, which will rise near the capital, was also in the spotlight. This huge complex will have the capacity to handle 20 million passengers per year.

A terminal with an area of 208,400 square meters, 169 aircraft parking spaces, and 2 huge runways, each 4 kilometers long, will further enhance the city's international prestige. Work on relocating water canals and power grids in the area has already begun.

Local fuel for aircraft and full digitalization

As aviation expands, the fuel reserves required for it are also being strengthened. By 2030, the volume of local aviation fuel production in our country will reach 600,000 tons per year. Fuel storage capacities at Navoi, Andijan, Bukhara, Urgench, and New Tashkent airports will be expanded to 80,000 tons.

Most importantly, by the end of this year, all fuel filling and storage processes at airports will be fully digitized and brought under state control based on international standards.

The head of state emphasized that the main criteria for these projects must be construction quality, safety, and high convenience for ordinary people. We look forward to the success of these projects that will bring our capital and regions closer together and make our roads smooth!
