Ryabkov: Russia is ready to "hard bargain" with the USA

With the arrival of a new president in the United States, we are in no hurry to throw ourselves into his arms, Russia is ready for "tough bargaining" with the United States, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

"Russia is ready to conduct negotiations with the United States in a "tough bargaining" mode, based on the "on-the-ground" reality and its historically and geographically based national interests," the deputy minister said.

As the Russian president said earlier, we sought to cooperate with the West on equal terms. But they did not listen to us, most likely did not want to, and tried to eliminate us as a rival and completely weaken us.

However, Russia was able to recover and return to a leading position in world geopolitics.

This, of course, did not please the Biden administration, which “wanted to strategically defeat Moscow” and “establish a rules-based liberal-globalist world order,” Ryabkov explained.

It should be recalled that the day after his inauguration, Donald Trump offered Russia in his own style to “come to an agreement” with Russia: “Stop this senseless war immediately, otherwise I will have no choice but to impose sanctions!” After that, the US president emphasized that “the conflict in Ukraine will inevitably end either easily or difficultly, but he prefers the first.”

At the same time, Russia is waiting for the US to approve the candidate for the Russian ambassador. It is also possible that the Trump administration will appoint a new candidate for the US ambassador to Russia. The current ambassador, Lynn Tracy, was appointed by the Biden administration.
