Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law introducing major changes to electronic visas and border crossing procedures. The document was published on the official legal information portal. The new regulations create additional opportunities for foreign visitors to Russia.
Under the new rules, the validity period of electronic visas increases from 60 to 120 days. The allowed stay in Russia is extended from 16 to 30 days. These changes are expected to make it easier for tourists, business travelers, humanitarian missions, and guests coming from abroad.
The law also introduces changes for Russian citizens. Now, a birth certificate will no longer be considered a valid document to identify minors abroad. This document can no longer be used when leaving Russia.
These new rules apply only after the law comes into force. Minors who left Russia with a birth certificate before the law will still be able to return using that document. This provision preserves certain conveniences for citizens.
Another important change allows border crossing outside official checkpoints with special permission. This can be helpful in specific situations.
Border officers are now authorized to stop and inspect small boats, vehicles moving on ice, and personal belongings or cargo of citizens. These measures are aimed at improving border security.
Russia’s new regulations on electronic visas and border control provide new opportunities for foreigners and ensure safety and discipline for citizens. All changes will take effect soon and make entry and exit procedures even more efficient.
