Are We Saying Goodbye to Snickers, Twix and M&M’s?

The sale of popular chocolates and sweets may be halted in Russia. The reason — disagreement over pricing.

One of Russia’s largest retail chains — X5 Group, which includes the supermarkets “Pyaterochka” and “Perekrestok”, has stopped purchasing Mars products such as Snickers, Twix, M&M’s, and Orbit. This was reported by Pravilamag.

Why were purchases stopped?

According to X5's press service, the decision was made due to dissatisfaction with the prices offered by Mars. They believe the price increases are unjustified.

Mars, in turn, expressed regret about the decision and stated that they hope to find a mutually beneficial solution.

How long will the chocolates last?

According to reports, Mars’ current stock will last about two months. By August-September, these products may disappear from store shelves completely. However, X5 representatives emphasized: “Shelves won’t be empty — similar products from other manufacturers will be offered in place of Mars.”

What does Mars produce?

Mars is one of the world’s largest confectionery producers. The company owns popular brands such as Snickers, Twix, Bounty, Mars, Milky Way, M&M’s, Skittles, Orbit, Eclipse, and also the “Korkunov” chocolates.

As a reminder, at the beginning of 2025, Mars and Mondelez (Milka, Oreo, Alpen Gold, etc.) announced price increases for their products amid deep inflation.
