Florida has launched its annual python hunting event — the Florida Python Challenge 2025, according to USA Today.
The hunt began at midnight on July 11 and will continue through July 20. Americans will target Burmese pythons.
These reptiles severely harm the state’s ecosystem by devouring birds, mammals, and smaller reptiles.
The event includes competitions across various categories, with a top prize of $10,000 (approx. 125 million UZS).
Last year, American hunters managed to capture and kill over 1,100 pythons.
According to Okhotniki.ru, the reptile population is growing much faster than hunters can eliminate them.
