The word “zoomer” has been selected as the most significant word of 2025. This result was announced based on a linguistic survey conducted by the “Gramota.ru” portal.
In the survey, the words “fatigue” (38%) and “red flag” (37%) also secured high rankings. A total of 469 linguists from 23 scientific and educational institutions across Russia participated in the voting.
The participants represented different age groups and academic schools, allowing for the consideration of opinions from multiple generations. The word selection process was conducted using a multi-stage methodology.
Initially, specialists shortlisted words that were not yet listed in dictionaries but were widely used. Then, through statistical analysis, “one-day” words that gained temporary popularity due to transient news were excluded.
During this process, words like “chushpan,” “kvadrober,” and “labubu” were eliminated from usage. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
