What heel height is considered healthy?

Women often feel confident and attractive in high-heeled shoes. However, experts emphasize that regularly wearing heels of 10 centimeters or more negatively affects health. Such footwear can alter the shape of the foot and cause various deformations. That is why orthopedists recommend wearing such shoes only for special occasions or occasionally.

One of the main risks of high heels is flat feet. This condition causes pain not only in the arch but also throughout the entire leg. Previously, it was believed that only flat shoes, especially sneakers and sports shoes, when worn daily, led to flat feet. But modern orthopedists explain that high heels pose the same danger. At the same time, walking barefoot is considered very beneficial for the proper development of bones and muscles of the foot.

Doctors recommend choosing shoes with heels 2–4 centimeters for everyday wear. It is also important that shoes correspond to the season, match the foot size, and be comfortable. It is strongly advised not to wear shoes smaller than your actual size — even a slight difference can squeeze the toes and cause deformities.

For pregnant women, there is a special reminder: heels higher than 4 centimeters are not recommended.
