Yesterday, in the Ak-Suu district of the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan, a 41-year-old woman, having taken heavily the fact that her 17-year-old daughter became pregnant, committed suicide. This was reported by the local internal affairs authorities.
According to the information, on February 25 the district police department received a report that a girl born in 2009 was 16 weeks pregnant, and a preliminary investigation was launched regarding the case. The girl was summoned for questioning, while her mother, considering the incident a disgrace, refused to take part in the investigative actions.
Shortly afterward, on the same day at approximately 9:00 p.m., the woman left her home, poured gasoline on herself and set herself on fire. She was taken to hospital with severe burn injuries, but despite the efforts of doctors, she died.
At present, a forensic medical examination has been назначed in connection with this incident, and investigative measures are continuing in order to determine all the circumstances of the case.
