Expert: How much meat should you eat to live longer?

One of the world's most widely cited experts on longevity, National Geographic Fellow and author of numerous scientific papers, Dan Buettner, has made clear recommendations regarding meat consumption. In his opinion, the secret to longevity lies not in "totally banning meat," but in maintaining the right amount.

Buettner has spent many years studying the five famous "blue zones" where people over 100 years old are most often found. These areas are:

- Okinawa (Japan)

- Sardinia (Italy)

- Nicoya (Costa Rica)

- Ikaria (Greece)

- Loma Linda (USA)

According to the expert, most of the long-livers in these places have not completely given up meat - that is, they are not vegans. But the most important thing is that their daily diet is not "built around" meat: not every dish includes meat, and not every meal necessarily contains meat.

According to the scientist's observations, long-livers in these areas usually eat meat once or twice a week. At the same time, vegetables, fruits, greens, nuts and various seeds occupy a very large place on their table. That is, the main "source of energy" is natural products and a diet rich in plants.

Büttner also points out another fine line from a health perspective: one serving of meat a day is fine, but it's important not to overdo it. In short, you shouldn't make meat "every meal."

According to him, "If you eat more than one serving of meat a day, your risk of chronic diseases increases."

Büttner's studies in the "blue zones" also showed another picture: the diets of long-livers are rich in legumes, greens, and unrefined carbohydrates. This can help reduce the risk of chronic diseases and extend life expectancy.

The conclusion is simple: it is not necessary to make meat the "enemy" for longevity, but it is also dangerous to make it the "main hero." Moderation, a vegetable-rich diet, and simple habits are the most effective.
