Research conducted by specialists showed how the presence or absence of a dog at home affects children’s health, reports Daily Mail.
Scientists collected household dust samples and observed children aged one to five years. According to the results, children who had contact with dogs from infancy were found to be almost twice less likely to develop asthma.
Interestingly, in experiments involving cats, such a positive effect was not observed. Experts explain this by the microbiome that develops through close interaction with dogs. Previously, it was believed that all pets equally benefit a child’s immune system.
