Cases of influenza are rapidly increasing in the regions of Russia. Currently, at least one in 100 people across the country is infected with this disease. In some regions, the number of patients has doubled in the last week. Specialists are constantly monitoring the epidemiological situation and do not rule out the possibility of a worsening of the situation in the near future.
According to medical workers, the main causative agent of the flu this season is the Hong Kong influenza A (H3N2) strain. This virus poses a particular danger due to its rapid spread and serious complications. Pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and people with chronic diseases are at particular risk.
Hong Kong flu is classified as an acute viral disease and primarily affects the respiratory tract. The disease manifests with high fever, severe intoxication, muscle and headache. In some cases, nausea and digestive system disorders can also be noted.
It should be noted that this virus was first detected in Hong Kong in 1968. Today, it continues to spread worldwide as a seasonal flu with a mutation.
