Starmer Calls for Abramovich to Transfer £2.5 Billion to Ukraine

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, has issued a warning to former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich regarding funds that are intended to be allocated to Ukraine. According to Starmer, Abramovich must fulfill the commitment made during the sale of Chelsea and direct £2.5 billion towards humanitarian needs in Ukraine.

The Prime Minister indicated that the government is prepared to enforce this commitment through legal action if necessary. It should be recalled that in 2022, Abramovich managed to sell Chelsea despite facing sanctions.

The British side had only approved the deal on the condition that the proceeds from the club's sale would be allocated to aid those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. However, subsequent negotiations did not yield results, as Abramovich insisted that the funds should be distributed to victims on both sides of the conflict, rather than solely to one side.

For now, these funds remain frozen.
