The Tashkent City Internal Affairs Department's Road Traffic Safety Department reported that a citizen was found with narcotics at the Sharq traffic police station in Bektemir district and handed over to the Bektemir district Internal Affairs Department's Federal Bureau of Investigation for legal action.

"The officers of the traffic police station called to the Sharq traffic police station stopped an Onix vehicle and during an interview with the driver, a person who was a passenger in the car aroused suspicion among the officers with his actions. When this person was checked with the participation of witnesses, narcotics were found hidden under his clothes and were taken to the Bektemir district Internal Affairs Department's Federal Bureau of Investigation in accordance with the relevant procedure," the report says.

According to the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Shohrukh Giyasov, the information in the media that the suspect is “singer Shahriyor” is far from the truth.

“Dissemination of such information is a gross violation of the requirements of the presumption of innocence established in Article 23 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as Article 14 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Personal Data” and Article 6 of the Law on Mass Media. We ask the mass media and the public to strictly comply with the requirements of the law when disseminating information about the inquiry and investigation.”
