In the high courts of Tashkent, a resonant dispute between a journalist and a blogger has been officially concluded. On July 21, the Tashkent City Civil Court considered a case that attracted significant public attention.
Recall that earlier, the Shaykhantahur Interdistrict Civil Court rejected journalist Anora Sodiqova’s claim against blogger Mirsaid Haydarov (“Mufasa”) and decided to collect the state fee from the claimant. The case was prompted by 7 Facebook posts, questions of the journalist’s honor and dignity, and the insulting word “journoja*ab”.
However, Anora Sodiqova appealed the court decision. According to Abdurakhmon Tashanov, head of the Ezgulik Human Rights Society, today, on July 21, the Tashkent City Civil Court reviewed Anora Sodiqova’s appeal and satisfied her complaint. According to the new decision, blogger “Mufasa” must pay Anora Sodiqova 25 million soums in moral damages, 5 million soums in other damages, officially apologize, and delete the offensive posts on social media.
Lawyers and public activists believe this decision is an important step in strengthening ethical standards and civic responsibility in the information sphere. This case is significant as it establishes the protection of honor and dignity in the media and the correct attitude in such disputes.
According to readers, this recent decision has become an important milestone in shaping ethical boundaries between journalists and bloggers, as well as in public consciousness on the internet. At the same time, it was once again clearly emphasized that respect for human dignity must always come first in any information and criticism. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
