Celta thrashed Valencia in Vigo to kill the suspense

In La Liga Round 18, Celta beat Valencia 4–1 at home. The outcome was largely decided in the second half amid a string of individual mistakes by the visitors. This was reported by kursiv.uz.reports.

From the start, the Vigo side looked more proactive: Celta enjoyed more possession, attacks were often built down the wings, and chances were sought inside the penalty area. Valencia tried to respond with counterattacks, but large gaps between the team’s lines were noticeable.

In the 33rd minute, Borja Iglesias won a penalty and converted it himself to open the scoring. The tempo dropped slightly before the break, but the initiative still remained with the hosts.

Early in the second half, Celta quickly strengthened their lead: Iglesias finished a teammate’s pass to complete his brace. Still, Valencia briefly managed to get back into the game — Pepelu fired a powerful shot from outside the box to cut the deficit.

But the suspense did not last long. A mistake in Valencia’s defense led to the hosts’ third goal: El-Abdellaui calmly made the most of a one-on-one. In the 90th minute, Celta put the final touch — Hugo Alvarez exploited the open space to make it 4–1.
