In Round 18 of Serie A, Milan’s Inter took revenge on Bologna after their setback in the Italian Super Cup semi-final. At San Siro, the hosts won 3–1 and moved ahead of Milan in the standings. This was reported by euro-football.ru.reports.
In the opening minutes, Inter created chances one after another: Thuram couldn’t get a shot away in a tussle inside the box, Lautaro finished the rebound but the goalkeeper made the save. Soon after, Thuram came close again with a shot from the left into the far corner, and in the next episode Çalhanoğlu’s effort from the edge of the area took a dangerous deflection, but the keeper pushed it out of play.
Bologna responded as well: from a right-wing cross, Odgaard headed just wide of the post. In the 39th minute Inter opened the scoring: Lautaro, falling near the edge of the box, slipped a pass through and Zieliński struck accurately from 20 metres into the bottom-left corner — 1–0. A few minutes later Lautaro fired hard at the near post, but the goalkeeper saved again.
Early in the second half, Dimarco burst into the box from the left and aimed low at the near post, but the keeper blocked it with his foot. In the 48th minute Inter doubled the lead after a corner: Lautaro headed the delivery into the net — 2–0. Then Thuram broke in from the right and squared it, Lautaro hit the crossbar with a first-time effort, and in another moment his mid-range shot was parried by the goalkeeper.
In the 74th minute another corner worked in Inter’s favour: after Dimarco’s pass to the near post, Thuram won the positional battle and bundled the ball in with his shoulder — 3–0. Bologna pulled one back in the 83rd minute: Lykogiannis played it into the middle and Castro, while falling, finished to reduce the deficit — 3–1.
As a result, Inter earned three points, overtook Milan and climbed to first place. Bologna remained in seventh.
