In Round 17 of France’s Ligue 1, the Paris derby took place. At the Parc des Princes, PSG defeated Paris 2–1. This was reported by euro-football.ru.reports.
In the first half, the hosts created several chances: Vitinha struck from distance, Senny Mayulu tested the goalkeeper from a tight angle, and Desire Doue cut in from the left and threatened with a shot into the far corner. In the 45th minute, Paris lost the ball in midfield and PSG responded immediately: Fabian Ruiz played Doue in, and the forward made the most of the moment inside the box to open the scoring — 1–0.
Early in the second half, the visitors equalized from the penalty spot: Willem Jebbel converted the 11-meter kick — 1–1. However, PSG quickly went ahead again: Ousmane Dembele shot from the right side of the box, a deflection off Mamadou Mbou’s leg wrong-footed the goalkeeper, and the ball went in at the near post — 2–1.
In the remaining minutes, the Parisians kept up the pressure: Nuno Mendes stood out with dangerous shots, while Paris tried to respond with long-range crosses and efforts, but the score did not change.
After the win, PSG are second in the standings, one point behind Lens. Paris are in the lower part of the table, close to the relegation playoff zone. Matvey Safonov continues his recovery from injury.
