Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone commented after a 1–1 draw with Real Sociedad in La Liga. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
In the match, the “Rojiblancos” took the lead in the 50th minute through a goal by Alexander Sorloth, but the score was level again by the 55th minute and they failed to hold on to the advantage. Simeone’s next opponent will be Real Madrid. The derby in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final will take place on January 8.
“Right now I don’t want to think about Real. It was more important for us to take more points in La Liga. We have 38 points now — that may not be enough if we want to achieve our goals,” Simeone was quoted as saying by Gazeta.Ru.
Atletico are fourth in the Spanish league table. The club trails Villarreal (38 points with two games in hand), Real (45) and Barcelona (49).
