Previews of Donkey Kong Bananza have appeared online — this is the first major project in the franchise since 2014, as well as the first 3D platformer since Donkey Kong 64. According to journalists, Bananza is exactly the game that fans of the series have “been waiting decades for.”
Bananza was developed by the team responsible for Super Mario Odyssey, which was confirmed by Nintendo itself. Reviewers call Bananza a true spiritual successor to Odyssey, which remains one of the most highly-rated 3D platformers in history.
Features of Donkey Kong Bananza:
- Levels have a multilayered structure, varied design, and also contain many secrets;
- Donkey Kong’s unique abilities — you can destroy everything around;
- The mechanic of transforming the hero into various creatures, each with its own abilities — similar to Super Mario Odyssey;
- Co-op mode with Pauline — in this mode the second player is not just an observer, but a full participant in what’s happening.
Among the drawbacks noted by reviewers — some technical issues, such as unstable fps and delayed texture loading. Perhaps this will be fixed by release.
Donkey Kong Bananza is scheduled for release on July 17. The game will be released exclusively for Switch 2. The price is 70 dollars.
