South Korean advanced technology company WIRobotics has introduced its latest innovation. The company presented a new humanoid robot, ALLEX, designed to work alongside humans and adapt to household conditions.
Presentation and concept of the robot
The presentation took place at the Robotics Innovation Center on the KOREATECH campus. According to its creators, ALLEX is not just a device executing commands but an important step toward robots that can “naturally and safely interact” with humans.
ALLEX’s capabilities
The robot can be used in various fields, from manufacturing to medical and domestic assistance. Its main advantage is the ability to sense force and touch without special sensors. This enables the robot to respond to physical contact almost like a human.
Technical specifications
-
The arm has 15 degrees of freedom, capable of delicate movements and lifting up to 30 kg.
-
A weight compensation system allows performing heavy tasks without overload.
-
ALLEX weighs only 5 kg but can lift more than 3 kg with one arm.
Potential practical applications
ALLEX could be useful in many areas: assisting the elderly, working in factories, or helping with household chores. For example, it can fold clothes or pour drinks.
Future plans
WIRobotics developed the robot as a modular platform. Users can choose to use only the arms, the hand, or the full body. The company plans that by 2030, such ALLEX robots will be affordable and available to the wider public.
Thus, South Korea has taken another step forward in robotics, and ALLEX has shown that it could become a valuable assistant in many human activities.
