Bumble AI Launches Matchmaking Bee

Dating app Bumble is stepping into generative AI with a new personal matchmaker called Bee. The AI assistant learns about users values, relationship goals, communication style, lifestyle and dating intentions through private conversations. It then suggests more compatible matches based on deeper compatibility rather than simple swipes. Reports Techcrunch.com.
Bee is currently in internal pilot testing and will soon move to beta. Users will chat with it in a natural conversational way similar to other AI chatbots. The tool aims to gather richer information about what people truly want in relationships.

Initially Bee will power a new feature called Dates that recommends matches by identifying shared intentions and goals. Both users receive notifications explaining why they are a good fit. In the future it may offer date ideas or ask for anonymous feedback from past matches.
This forms part of a larger AI focused update as Bumble tries to win back younger users especially Gen Z who are growing tired of swipe based dating. The company may test removing the swipe feature in some markets replacing it with chapter based profiles that let people connect over different parts of their life stories.

Bumble which has long focused on womens needs with features like women message first is now using AI to boost user growth and encourage better conversations that lead to real life meetings. The company also reported strong fourth quarter earnings with revenue of 224.2 million dollars.
