Path of Exile 2 update sparks controversy over temples

Another round of fixes for the “Vaal Fate” league in Path of Exile 2 has angered players. The developers tried to soften a criticized mechanic, but the result only widened the gap between veteran players and those just learning the content. This was reported by playground.ru reports .
The previous update made building personal temples more profitable, but the process still remained very exhausting. After that, the 13th hotfix for patch 0.4.0c aimed to close “exploits” that allowed players to get rich too quickly through temples, as well as to curb inflation in the in-game market. However, this attempt tilted the balance even further in favor of “old” players who had already built up power during the season.
The most controversial change was the rework of the “Huatlotli Medallion” mechanic, which protects temple rooms from being destroyed. Now the item can only be placed in level 3 rooms, creating a serious obstacle for new players trying to finish their builds. Meanwhile, veterans who already have “finished” temples with ideal layouts continue to stockpile resources with little to no friction.
In addition, if a temple contains four or more rooms of the same type, a “diminishing returns” system has been introduced for room modifiers. In theory, together with a reduction in the number of rare enemies, this was supposed to limit the efficiency of the strongest temples. In practice, wealthy late-game players keep growing their capital quickly, while newcomers face even more restrictions.
The community reacted with harsh criticism. On forums, many say the league has effectively been “broken” and that the new audience has been scared off. Some fans recommend skipping this season or waiting for the next major updates, noting that the studio is still struggling to properly tune and balance new mechanics.
