The capital, Tashkent, once again successfully hosted a major international sports forum. The prestigious "Grand Slam" competition in judo was organized at a high level, where a number of strong national teams from around the world competed fiercely for medals.
The Uzbekistan national team also worthily participated in this tournament and delighted our fans. According to the results of the competition, our compatriots won 1 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals. With this result, our representatives entered the top three in the overall team standings.
According to the official schedule, Japan took first place in the competition. Japanese judokas won 4 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze medals, once again demonstrating the high level of their school.
The Azerbaijan national team also performed very effectively, taking second place with 4 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals. The representatives of the Caucasus, competing decisively and confidently in certain weight categories, became one of the most productive teams of the tournament.
Uzbekistan took third place with 1 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Of course, in the competition held at home, this result is considered an important achievement for both the fans and the team. In particular, the large number of winners showed that the national team's squad is competitive and has a sufficient reserve.
Thus, the Grand Slam in Tashkent became not only an exciting and intense competition, but also another important testing ground for Uzbek judo. Most importantly, despite the pressure on the home field, our athletes managed to collect medals and achieved a worthy result on the international stage.
Undoubtedly, in the future, this result will give confidence to the national team before even bigger competitions, and will show the coaching staff in which areas it is necessary to strengthen.
