What is China's policy regarding Iran?

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the intentional killing of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the region.
In an official statement, the Foreign Ministry of the People's Republic of China assessed the attack as a serious and dangerous act directed against Iran's state sovereignty.
Beijing officials, in particular the Beijing side, are calling on all interested parties to exercise restraint and resolve issues through diplomatic and political means in order to maintain peace and stability in the region, especially in the Middle East.
