Dietary supplements captured 10 percent of the pharmacy market in Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, dietary supplements occupied 10 percent of the pharmacy market
Structural changes are being observed in the pharmaceutical market of Uzbekistan. According to the analytical report of DATFO Analytics, by the end of September 2025, biologically active supplements (dietary supplements) accounted for 9.5 percent of pharmacy sales volume.

Compared to 2024, the monetary sales volume of dietary supplements increased by 1.7 times, and by packages by 1.4 times. At the same time, many other segments of pharmaceuticals remain stagnant.

According to the study, the main growth of dietary supplements is being provided by imported products from the USA. As experts note, not advertising but consumer trust and word-of-mouth recommendations are playing an important role in the popularity of biologically active supplements.

Against the background of increased demand, pharmacy chains have started to rapidly develop this direction. The share of dietary supplements in pharmacy sales has approached 10 percent, and in Tashkent, the average cost of one merchandising shelf is only 30–40 US dollars.

This turns the segment into one of the most profitable areas in terms of income from retail space. The absolute leader in the segment became the NOW Foods brand.

According to DATFO Analytics data, NOW Foods has become an infrastructure participant developing pharmacy channels in terms of dietary supplement sales and is setting standards for the entire category. Solaray and Solgar have strengthened their positions in the premium segment.

Solaray's market share is 1.6 percent and its sales rose almost twofold (+93 percent). Solgar, with a 1 percent share, recorded 67 percent growth.

The Swanson brand achieved unprecedented growth in distribution—its sales increased by 172 percent, and pharmacy coverage expanded from 118 to 500 points. The Childlife children's line also broadened its presence in the market.

Pharmacy coverage reached from 427 to 1,018 outlets, and its market share amounts to 0.56 percent. The number of pharmacies with at least one of the TOP brands grew from 2,226 to 3,429 (+54 percent).

Thus, dietary supplements are no longer a niche product, but are becoming a mandatory category in the pharmacy assortment.
