A large cardboard and paper manufacturing plant is planned to be built in Samarkand

China's Hanrun Paper Company intends to invest 500 million USD to implement a major industrial project in the Samarkand region. This was announced by company representatives during a meeting with the regional governor Adiz Boboyev. This was reported by Uzdaily.uz.
The project envisions the establishment of a modern complex specializing in the production of industrial cardboard, packaging paper, and office paper. The construction and commissioning processes will be carried out in five stages.
More than 50 hectares of land are required for the placement of production. Currently, land plots located in the 'Hishrau 2' massif within the Urgut free economic zone are being considered and are expected to be auctioned soon.
Investors emphasize that this plant could become the only enterprise of its kind in Central Asia. The project is expected to create nearly 3,000 new jobs.
Additionally, once the enterprise is operational, it is forecasted that annual tax revenues of 50–60 million USD will flow into the state budget. The regional governor stated that the project aligns with the priority directions of the region's socio-economic development and assured full support in swiftly resolving organizational and infrastructural issues and continuously supporting the project process.
