Mirziyoyev Criticizes Issues in Healthcare

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has analyzed challenges in the healthcare sector and raised pressing issues in this regard. According to the President's press service, analysis over the past five years revealed that gastrointestinal diseases decreased by 1.5 times; however, no significant changes have been observed in the Kashkadarya and Navoi regions.

In Yakkabog District, 33% of medical complaints are related to gastrointestinal diseases. This indicator stands at 29% in Guzar District, and 25% in Koson and Mirishkor districts.

Doctors were criticized, particularly for prescribing antibiotics to children without proper oversight. The training of medical personnel in rural areas was reported to be lagging behind.

Additionally, the challenges faced by the population regarding kidney diseases were highlighted. It was noted that the prevalence of kidney diseases in Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Fergana, and Andijan regions is 40-50% higher than the average level.

The administration has instructed urology and nephrology centers to conduct broader outreach efforts in these areas.
