110 enterprises suspended in Tashkent

Large-scale environmental inspections aimed at improving air quality and reducing harmful emissions have been completed in Tashkent city and region, Podrobno.uz reports. During raids conducted from November 25 to December 24, specialists identified 1,128 violations and prepared the relevant administrative documents for each case. As the strictest measure, the operations of 110 enterprises that caused serious environmental damage were temporarily suspended. Of these, 99 are located in Tashkent Region and 11 in Tashkent city; they were closed for up to 10 working days to eliminate violations. The commission paid special attention to the agricultural sector. As a result of the inspections, the required dust-and-gas cleaning equipment was installed at 94 greenhouse complexes. Work to switch greenhouses to environmentally friendly fuel is also ongoing. Six complexes have been connected to the gas network, while another seven have applied to obtain technical specifications for gasification. Monitoring continues—on December 23 alone, eight more violations of environmental legislation were recorded. Earlier, it was reported that in Navoi, the operations of 20 industrial enterprises polluting the atmosphere were temporarily suspended.
