The government of Uzbekistan has adopted an important decision aimed at radically renewing the processes of burial and establishing transparent control in the field. According to the decree "On measures to improve the system of organization and accounting of burial work and the introduction of effective control mechanisms in the field," burial work in the country will be gradually digitized.
New electronic services will be introduced
Based on the decision, the issuance of permits for the burial of a deceased person, registration, and monitoring of these processes are carried out through an electronic information system. Thanks to these changes, documentation processes will be accelerated, the human factor will be reduced, and data will be consolidated into a single database.
By June 1, 2026, a special module - the "Unified Electronic Book of Registration of Burial Cases" and its mobile application will be developed in the "Unified Electronic Archive of the Civil Registry Office" system. Through this module, all information related to cemeteries, permits, and burials is maintained electronically.
A QR code certificate will be sent automatically
From March 1, 2026, as soon as the death of a deceased person is registered, a certificate with a QR code will be automatically sent to his close relatives - spouse, parents, or children - through the My.gov.uz personal accounts.
This document is equivalent to an official stamped certificate and completely reduces excessive paperwork.
An experimental procedure will be introduced in Tashkent
From July 1 to December 31, 2026, a new procedure for conducting funerals electronically will be implemented in the capital, Tashkent, as a pilot project. According to it:
- the cemetery manager issues permission for burial only through a special electronic module or mobile application;
- the practice of registering burial cases in paper form will be completely abolished.
Expected effect of changes
The government decree aims to strengthen discipline in the sector, reduce corruption risks, and make funeral services more transparent. The introduction of the electronic system will create conveniences for the population, increase the speed of obtaining necessary information, and automate public services.
After the full implementation of the new procedure, it is expected that a unified standard and modern control system in the field of funeral services will be formed throughout the country.
