Uzbekistan to Modernize Patent and Trademark System

Uzbekistan to modernize patent and brand management system
The Ministry of Intellectual Property of South Korea will deliver a patent and trademark management system to Uzbekistan, Yonhap News Agency reported.

This equipment is being supplied under the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) project, valued at 13.4 billion won (approximately 9 million US dollars). This is considered South Korea’s largest overseas system delivery project.

“We will mobilize all resources to modernize and effectively improve Uzbekistan’s intellectual property management,” said Chong Je Hwan, director of the Information Department of the Intellectual Property Bureau, to Yonhap News Agency. The new system will operate based on artificial intelligence (AI).

The platform will be used to handle administrative tasks, including classification, searching, open data retrieval, and generating statistical reports. As part of the project, plans also include system stabilization, technical support, and enhancing the qualifications of Uzbekistan’s civil servants.
