A major purge in the judicial system and a new declaration system

On February 12, after reviewing the report of the Supreme Council of Judges, Head of State Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward important initiatives aimed at ensuring fairness and transparency in the field. Now judges will be accountable not only to the law, but also to the people for their assets.
Asset declaration and the fight against corruption
One of the most sensational proposals at the meeting was the introduction of a system of mandatory asset declaration for judges and their family members. In addition, a compliance control system will be established in the judicial system, and the recruitment of employees will be carried out in a completely open and transparent manner.
When the numbers speak: Judges dismissed and punished
It is no exaggeration to say that the reporting period was a period of "filtration" for the judicial system. Strict measures were taken against those who committed violations in the system:
- 19 judges were dismissed from their posts for violating the oath and failing to comply with the rules of etiquette.
- 3 judges were held criminally liable.
- 58 were demoted, and 266 were subject to disciplinary punishment.
- 33 judges who applied for the next term were found unfit and removed from the system.
Freeing judges from tasks that are "not their business"
A judge should only deal with fair trials. For this purpose, it is expected to establish an institution of "court administration" based on foreign experience. Now, not judges, but separate administrators will deal with material and technical support, paperwork, and organizational matters. This increases the independence of judges and the quality of their work.
Protection from external pressure
5 submissions were submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office on cases of interference in judicial activities. In addition, more than 200 orders of leaders who issued illegal orders against judges and assigned them tasks unrelated to fair trial were canceled.
Gender equality and international holidays
Increasing the role of women in the system is also in the spotlight. In particular, specific plans have been set to celebrate March 10 - International Women's Day of Judges at a high level and increase the proportion of women in the field.
The main goal of these reforms, supported by the President, is one: every citizen who comes to the court should return confident that there is justice.
Do you think that declaring assets by judges can completely eliminate corruption in the judicial system?
